Job Summary
IMI is seeking a Bilingual (Spanish) speaking Safety Specialist local to our Watkinsville, GA area. This position will support our Safety Division and will ensure that the company complies and adheres to Occupational Health & Safety documentation recordkeeping regulations. This role also supports Spanish-speaking employees and stakeholders by ensuring clear communication, training, and compliance with all safety programs and requirements.

Essential Functions
The Safety Specialist will focus on providing safety support services to clients to eliminate workplace safety hazards, reduce client risks, and support efforts towards compliance with safety standards.
- Translate safety policies, procedures, training materials, and documentation between English and Spanish to ensure accessibility and understanding.
- Deliver safety training and toolbox talks in both English and Spanish as needed.
- Serve as a liaison for Spanish-speaking employees to communicate safety expectations, concerns, and incident details effectively.
- Assist in incident investigations involving Spanish-speaking employees, including conducting interviews and translating statements/documentation.
- Support Project Managers and leadership in fostering an inclusive safety culture across a bilingual workforce.
- Maintain an understanding of health & safety regulations as defined by federal, state, or local regulatory agencies, customers, and best industry management practices.
- Conduct site visit risk assessments and provide solutions with proactive measures to mitigate and control hazards at all levels in the organization.
- Conduct safety audits of customer field services sites to include inspections and surveys to provide support and guidance on regulations to employees and Project Managers.
- Complete new hire, random, and incident related drug screens.
- Provide guidance to Project Managers to promote proactive safety cultures in implementing plans and preventative actions.
- Interface with customers to ensure all compliance obligations are met.
- Assist with Fall Protection Inspection Program, complete equipment inspections & documentation & record keeping.
- Deliver Refresher Training Programs to include documentation & record keeping.
- Deliver Powered Industrial Truck & Mobile Elevated Working Platform training to include documentation & record keeping.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree or higher in safety related field preferred or professional designation (Ex. CHST, ASP, CSP)
- Fluent in both English and Spanish (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate technical safety information clearly.
- Advanced proficiency in Spanish in a professional or industrial environment.
- Must hold and maintain OSHA 30 and 510 and/or 511.
- OSHA 500 and/or 501 certifications preferred.
- Minimum of five years’ work experience within a heavy/general industrial environment.
- Experience within a construction and/or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification required.
- Ability and willingness to work from vehicle up to 50-60% of the time to perform jobsite evaluations and incident investigation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient Microsoft Office software and computer skills
- Must be able to work from Watkinsville, GA based office.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects.
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.
- Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Good physical fitness, sense of balance & eye-hand coordination.
- Manual dexterity needed for repetitive tasks and operating standard office equipment.
- Ability to work in office, shop, and field environments and wear required PPE.
